RE-EXUBERATING YOUR FUN FACTOR

7 NIGHT | 8 DAY RETREAT

KOH TAO, THAILAND

11-18 September 2020

We've done it before and we're doing it again. This time we're taking you to the same beautiful country but a different island. Come and join Jason and Rommie as we head to Koh Tao - a small, but stunningly beautiful, eco-conscious island in the Gulf of Thailand. It may well be known as a diving island, but Koh Tao is a paradise that offers so much more than diving alone. We'll be there for 7 nights | 8 days to help refill your tank with a smidge of physical activity on the beach (Fitness levels from 0-10 catered for so never fear. This will be super fun and laughter is mandatory.), morning meditation and afternoon mixed movement. We'll help inspire your creative juices with some fun and engaging projects over the week. Plenty of time for relaxation, reading, beach or pool time, ambling the streets or, if lazing around doesn't appeal to you, we'll organise your free time doing something with a little more high adrenaline, like trapeze, rock climbing or something similar!

HELLO MORNING, WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE?

What is this physical activity we hear you ask and will I die because I'm so unfit right now? First up, always know that this is your retreat and nothing is compulsory. If you wake up feeling you'd rather a coffee and massage then that's what you do. We will have set fitness type activities each day, but we will be starting on the beach with a group meditation listening to sloshing waves before that good stuff. We cater to all levels of fitness and ability so don't feel you need to be running marathons before you go.

The morning sessions start with meditation which is going to set us up for an outdoor fitness session. A bit of beachy booty camp style and depending on the weather we may even throw in some kayak or SUP fun. You might want to jump in for a swim here before we head back (via a take away coffee or tea) to the villas for a breakfast of fresh juice and smoothie bowl.

BREAKFAST DONE NOW LET'S GET CREATIVE

After breakfast we will have planned creative activities. One of them will be sharpening your travel photography skills. Everyone has a phone or camera they take away with them and we want to record our experiences to capture memories to share with our family and friends. Let's makes those memories memorable by taking extraordinary photos. Rommie will show you how to tap into your inner artistic genius and see your holiday with fresh eyes. There is more going on in in this timeslot that we're in the process of working out so keep checking in here for updates.

After our post-breakfast creative splurge you get free time where you can relax, read, swim, go to a movie (there's a cinema), enjoy a massage or three, go to a cooking class nearby, take a diving class, go hiking, trapezing, rocking climbing, abseiling or wandering the streets. It's your time to do whatever takes your fancy. We can arrange any of these activities for you while you're there.

YOU'VE HAD YOUR FREE TIME, NOW WHAT'S DOING IN THE AFTERNOON

You've had free time and you're ready to regroup before we have dinner and finish our day. Late afternoon we will be working in some mixed movement; a soul loving blend of Qigong, energy medicine, yoga and animal flow. We promise you, you will finish your day zinging after this one. Depending on weather, tides and all those things we may be at the beach, villas or elsewhere doing these sessions. I'm still out exploring, do I have to? Not at all, it's your retreat. A short break and we're doing dinner which may be out or at the villas, but wherever we are it will be nutritious and delicious.

WHERE ARE WE STAYING?

Unlike our previous retreats which have been in specialised retreat centres, we are mixing it up a bit this time. We will be staying in private villas located on the hill of Sairee Beach. The villas are about a 5 minute walk to the beach and an easy 15 minutes stroll along the beach to Sairee Village. These boutique villas are beautiful and comfortable with plenty of outdoor space to swim in the pool, read or just watch the sun go down over the ocean. Each villa has a kitchen if you'd like to buy food to prepare yourself at any time. It's in a quiet location but close enough to some amazing food, craft beer joints, funky burger places. There is a walking street between Mae Haad (the pier and great cheesecake) and Sairee with loads of restaurants, beach bars, massage, etc. It takes about 30 minutes end to end, it's flat and and easy walk. There is so much available for vegans, vegetarians, gluten restricted diets so if you're wanting to eat well while you're out and about you can do that very easily on Koh Tao. Check out this great link for a virtual look at the beaches.

Can you give me an idea of our week? Sure can, but it's just a guide and may change!

DAY 8

Saddest day where everyone says goodbye to the new friends they've made.

A morning swim at the beach followed by breakfast at the villas then free time until your departure.

A little love from one of our previous retreatees.

Rom’s organisation was a credit to how the whole Retreat flowed so successfully.  I was very late to book but Rom was always positive and totally accommodating. Rom’s support was there right through, including before the trip when I started to feel guilty about going away. It was so well organised with everyone arriving at different times from different places and everyone felt totally looked after. It was an amazing group of people and with Rom’s facilitation she made everyone feel comfortable and included.

There was a huge range of fitness levels there from gym instructors to the likes of me being quite unfit and I’m sure everyone got out of it what they wanted to. I thought the balance between movement, mediation, learning and free time was spot on. There was also time for much needed rest, relaxation with a daily massage and having fun with the others.

The Daily Workshops were the part of the Retreat that I gained the most from. Rom helped us gain such clarity with what our lives look like and what we could do to create our visions. My journal from the Retreat is full of life changing information that I love reading and re-reading whenever I can. The guest speaker in residence on our Retreat, Mr Jason Hope was inspirational with a heartfelt personal story of how he turned his life around. I took away so much from this talk.

I left the Retreat feeling amazing and completely inspired to live my life how I envisioned it. Thanks Rom for a Retreat to remember forever and routines I can return to in order to live my life to the fullest.  When can we do it all over again?  ~ Midge

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
Is there a payment plan option?
A.

You really want to come, but don't have the full payment available. We know the feeling!!! Yes, contact Rommie and we will arrange something with you. rommie@selfhealth.net.au

Q.
What's the deal with Thailand visas?
A.

Make sure you check the current regulations out, but Thailand is mostly visa-free for a lot of countries. If you’re from the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, and most of Europe, you can enter for thirty days visa-free.

Q.
What about travel insurance, do I need it?
A.

Yes, everyone will be required to have travel and you will need to send us a copy before you leave. Consider flight delays, cancellation of retreat, medical issues, lost baggage, etc when you're working out your travel insurance. If you are considering scuba diving, you will need dive insurance also.

Q.
Hit me with that cancellation policy.
A.

The $500 deposit to secure your space is non-refundable. Cancellations 60 days before departure, you’ll receive 100% of the balance of your retreat fee.
Cancellations between 30-60 days before departure, you’ll receive a 50% refund.

A.

Sorry, adults only everyone. Enjoy the break away.

Q.
What if you book out, is there a waiting list or other options?
A.

We will have a waiting list running on a first in first served basis.

Q.
Minimum numbers are required so hold your flight bookings until advised. [Not really a question.]
A.

Departure is not guaranteed until the minimum number of guests is met. If the minimum is not met within one month, your deposit will be fully refunded. Please do not book flights or other non-refundable travel until we guarantee departure.

Q.
Is there anything I need to bring? Is there anything I need to send you?
A.

You will need to bring a yoga mat.
You will need to email us a copy of your passport and travel insurance.
Once booked you will also need to send your arrival time and ferry in to Mae Haad Pier, Koh Tao so we can pick you up.

Q.
Can I stay longer or come in earlier?
A.

You can certainly do that, however whether there is the option to stay at the villas I'm not certain. Let me know what you're wanting to do and I will check availability. Otherwise, there is a HEAP of accommodation in Koh Tao and you might want to stay somewhere else on the island.

Q.
Am I sharing a room?
A.

All rooms have king beds (they cannot be split) and they are available to you alone or you and your partner. There are a couple of rooms with a king and single so if you want to share with a friend you can do that. Rock, Scissors, Paper on the single!!!

We have fun on retreat. It's a great way to meet people, relax and remember how cool life really is. This is how we finished up on our last one.
